Last weekend Briefing Competició team and our rider Luca Gardner participated in the second race of Campeonato Mediterráneo de Velocidad (CMV) in the circuit of Los Arcos (Navarra). This time the race was run in one leg and was integrated into the Open Cup of Navarra.

The competition began on Friday at 3 pm with only three rounds of twenty minutes free practice. Luca had the first contact with the track that he had never raced on. It was a busy afternoon with little time, as the rider had to learn the track and the team had to tune the bike for the qualifying practices and the race on Saturday.

Early on Saturday morning, Luca went to track for the first qualifying session of the day, with a time of 2:00.4, and he achieved the 4th place, just a few decimals away from 3rd position.

In the second qualifying session, Luca went back on track with two objectives: to reduce his time and get a better position in the starting grid.

The first goal he achieved, his time was lowered to an excellent 1:58.9, an improvement of nearly two seconds over the first lap. The second goal could not be achieved because all riders improved their times, so he kept the 4th position on the grid, a good result considering the fact that it was the first time he had ridden this track.

Just two hours after the training sessions, the race began and Luca came to the end of line in 3rd place. It was a comfortable race for Luca, who was improving his times lap after lap and crossed the finish line with a result that allowed him to go up to the third step of the podium. After the prize giving ceremony, Luca was called by the Race Control to inform him that he was the winner of the race, because the two first motorbikes had been excluded. Their engine power was over the limit indicated by the motorcycles regulations championship. Therefore, Luca got his first win in Spain and first of the season. He also received the trophy for the first place in the Copa Open of Navarra, going back home with two trophies and feeling proud of the obtained results. Luca wanted to thank the work done in the fine tuning of his bike, signing and giving his first trophy as winner to Briefing Competició.

The next race will be on June 8th and 9th to hold the third round of the Campeonato Mediterráneo de Velocidad (CMV) at the Circuit of Calafat (Tarragona), where we hope to see you all.
