Press Release CEV Navarra
A new circuit with spectacular facilities where motorbike fans met. A total of 120 riders registered in 4 different categories, struggled to give the best and offer the viewers an exciting weekend.
Friday's free practices, in which Alex took the first contact with the pavement of the circuit, were wet.
It was a busy day. The rider had to kow the layout and the team had to tune the bike for Saturday's qualififying practices. It was a complicated task due to weather conditions.
On Saturday, there were two 50-minute qualifying practices, both under rain in most of the sessions, as happened in the race in Jerez. Despite the adversity with which Alex began, dealing with a new circuit in which he had never raced and weather conditions that were not ideal during the trainings, Alex managed to qualify in a creditable 29th position with 1:49,533, taking advantage of better weather in the second round of the qualifying practice.
Sunday warm-up was started with the iuncertainty whether it would rain or not. The team decided that when the track opened, Alex would come out to trace the circuit as many times as possible so as to get to know the track better in dry conditions.
Al last the moment of truth came: the race. The sky was clear and the sun was appearing, the track was dry and the team fixed slicks.
When the lights went off Alex made a spectacular strt and he managed to overtake up to 10 riders!! Alex kept fighting lap after lap and crossed tthe finish line in the 21st position out of 37 participants. Throughout the race Alex had a 1:46.0 average improving 3 seconds the training time, thus overcoming a difficukt weekend for all.
The next meeting will be held within 20 days at the Circuit of Alcarràs (Lleida) where he will take part in the Mediterranea Speed Championship and will try to keep the Nº1.
we look forward to seeing you on May 12 and 13.
